Frequently asked EOI & PR points questions

What is an EOI Points Calculator?

An EOI (Expression of Interest) Points Calculator totals your points under the Department of Home Affairs points test for subclasses 189, 190, 491, 489 and 188, so you can see whether you meet the 65-point minimum pass mark before submitting through SkillSelect.

What is the pass mark for the 189, 190, 491 and 489 visas?

The minimum pass mark is 65 points. 189 is points-tested only; 190 adds 5 points for state/territory nomination; 491 and 489 add 15 points for regional nomination or family sponsorship. The 188 business visa is also points-tested against a 65-point pass mark.

What is the maximum I can claim for skilled employment?

Overseas and Australian skilled employment are combined and capped at 20 points total — up to 15 for overseas experience and up to 20 for Australian experience, but the combined total cannot exceed 20.

How is a PR Point Calculator different from an EOI calculator?

They calculate the same Home Affairs points for the 189, 190, 491, 489 and 188 visas. "PR points" is the common term because meeting the pass mark is what leads to an invitation to apply for permanent residency.

Is the Uniq Turn EOI calculator accurate?

Yes. Points criteria are taken directly from the official Department of Home Affairs points tables for each subclass. For a full migration assessment, book a consultation with our Registered Migration Agents.
